- Use a biblical prayer as a starting point and focus for your prayer
- Pray for the values and ideas in the passage rather than against anything
- Pray for our leaders rather than against politicians or Supreme Court Justices
- Those in the prayer meeting pray along silently with the individual praying
- Simply read the scripture and then begin praying
Example: I’m going to pray for the Supreme Court Justices from Philippians 1:9-11
“And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.”
Jesus, I pray that you would reveal yourself to the Supreme Court Justices. For those that have a basis for faith in you, give them knowledge and discernment. For those that don’t have an active faith in you, give them understanding so that they all would be able to approve the things that are excellent in your eyes. I’m asking for that the fruits of righteousness would fill their minds and hearts. I pray that they would desire to see your righteousness expressed through their decision. Jesus, thank you that give the fruits of righteousness to your children. We desire righteousness in America. Amen

Prayers in the New Testament
- Prayer for wisdom and understanding.
“…The Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us” (Ephesians 1:17-19)
- Prayer for strength in the inner man & to know the love of Christ.
“…that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through his spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height– to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:16-19)
- Prayer for God’s love to abound in our heart.
“And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.” (Philippians 1:9-11)
- Prayer to know God’s will and to be fruitful in ministry
“We…do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may have a walk worthy of the lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.” (Colossians 1:9-12)
- Prayer for unity within the church across a city.
“Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus.”
(Romans 15:5-7)
- Prayer for joy and peace.
“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
(Romans 15:13)
- Prayer to be enriched with the gifts leading to righteousness.
“I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus, that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our lord Jesus Christ, who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our lord Jesus Christ.”
(1 Corinthians 1:4-8)
- Prayer to be equipped and prepared to receive the fullness of God’s destiny for the Church.
“Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness and the work of faith with power, that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Thessalonians 1:11-12)
- Prayer for the Word to run swiftly.
“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you. Now may the lord direct your hearts into the love of god and into the patience of Christ.” (2 Thessalonians 3:1-5)
